CHRISTIAN LIVING - LESSON 10

                                                                     The Mature Christian

   You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible verses in this study. Highlight or mark them in your bible. It is Gods Word speaking directly to you.

   We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.

Through the circumstances of life we can often lose sight of the majesty of Christ. It is not only the difficulties that can distract but also abundance. We can see this is true by simply considering the level of zeal Christians living in third world countries have for God. Their faith is their greatest asset. It should be ours also. We know it is in the logical sense, but do we live as though that is true? If we were being tried in a court of law for our faith, would there be enough evidence to convict?

Jesus is so significant that time has been measured by His life and death since He arrived on earth. All history previous to Him is dated on a timeline by its distance in years

from His birth. His earthly ministry spanned three and one half years, and yet the world, both saved and unsaved, still recognizes His significance.

He was prophesied of long before He arrived. He was born humbly yet lived a life so remarkable many now believe Him to be the wisest whoever walked the earth. He laid down His life for all mankind. He rose from the grave, was seen by several hundred men, taught them more truths, and ascended to heaven while many watched. He has sent His Holy Spirit to dwell in each of us, and has lifted us up in holiness and spiritual authority to sit with Him in heaven. He will return soon to take all those who believe to dwell with Him for all eternity.

He is worthy of all praise.

                                                                                   Three Questions to ask Ourselves

1. Is my life honoring Jesus?

- am I committed to His cause or lukewarm in my zeal?

- my commitment to prayer?

- my commitment to study

- my commitment to reach out in love?

John 5:23 “that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who

does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”

2. Do I live under His lordship?

- am I dying daily and allowing Him to guide my decision making and choices?

Luke 6:46-49 Why do you call Me Lord…

1Corinthians 15:31-34 I die daily…

3. Am I walking in His presence continually?

- Do I communicate with Him throughout each day?

Psalm 139:13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; The upright

shall dwell in Your presence.

Conclusion: This life we live is an opportunity to advance Gods kingdom. Many in this world use it as an opportunity to advance their own. This is unfortunate, for Jesus said “I work while it is day, for night is coming when no one can work (John 9:4)”, and time is ticking.

Our life with Christ should be on an inclining plain. We should be more like Him today than we were yesterday, and more like Him tomorrow than we are right now. He is never angry with us, but loves us and wants to walk more closely with each of us. No matter where we are at spiritually, there is room for improvement.
