CHRISTIAN LIVING 2 - LESSON 1
The Process
You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible verses in this study. Highlight or mark them in your bible. It is Gods Word speaking directly to you.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
The Process
Living this life desiring to walk with God is admirable. Being disappointed in our inability to always do it well is normal. Being Christ like is a lifelong journey, empowered by Holy Spirit. We still have to live within the confines of a fallen earth and in our body, our earth suit, which can be adversarial toward our walking in purity and holiness. We should never allow condemnation to rob us of our peace or joy. These shortcomings or temporary failures are the very reason Jesus came!
Our heavenly Father was well aware of our weaknesses and provided us a means of consistent forgiveness; even as consistent as our own ability to screw things up. Jesus paid the price. We don’t however, sin willfully after coming to the knowledge of the truth in Christ. For this abuse of God’s mercy the payment was not designed.
There is a process, or method for those of us who love God and truly desire to walk in His ways. Today we will look at some self disciplines that will better enable us to walk more consistently as Jesus taught, in love and as a light to others.
1. Yield to Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:16-25 I say then: Walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lusts of
the flesh….
2. Sow to the Spirit
Galatians 6:7-8,10 vs. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those
who are of the household of faith.
- If our heart is truly with God and His kingdom, we will direct our efforts ands
finances to helping the cause.
3. Stick to it!
Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall
reap if we do not lose heart.
- We are to live this way, not just try it for a season. Our life purpose should be the
advancement of Gods kingdom!
Conclusion: It is written “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus”. It is our privilege, even more our duty to muster our inner drive to pursue life in the Spirit. The battle ground and the kingdom of God are both within us. It is our very innermost being that is of eternal value, and that is what satan is fighting to destroy. Let’s not allow the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, nor the lusts of other things distract us from our walk with God. Slow down your busy mind and listen to Holy Spirit. He will guide you into the truth, help you make wise decisions and lead you in the right direction. Make listening for His voice your greatest strength, than you’ll truly find the kingdom of God is within you and day after day will be spent walking with Jesus.
