FAITH - LESSON 5
Persistent Faith
You may need your Bible, a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible verses in this study. Highlight or mark them in your bible. It is Gods Word speaking directly to you.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
PERSISTENT FAITH
In this generation more than any other past, we seem to be always in a hurry. Our lifestyle is marked by fast food, micro waves and cell phones. Not too many years ago a person would have to wait until the work day was done to phone or contact a friend. Not anymore. Now we can see and talk with our buddy who’s on vacation, lying in the sun in the Caribbean, while we’re at a desk at work in Yellowknife. This is a generation in a hurry.
It should come as no surprise than, how people can struggle with the concept of persistence and determination. When prayer results are slow in coming it could seem easier sometimes to quit. The Word of God says otherwise. Persistence in prayer is key to breakthrough. God is not like a microwave. Although sometimes faith results are sudden, other times they can require patience. This is not a sign something is wrong with our faith. This is the time to realize we are in a fight, and whatever it is we’re believing for is worth fighting for!
Today we will look to God’s Word regarding being persistent in our prayers and faith, without wavering. Our dreams are worth fighting for! When we realize standing in faith can take patience and persistence, we become much more dangerous to the devil. Results come from consistency. Let’s be consistent!
Keys To Help You Stick To It
1. Be Persistent & Unwavering
Luke 18:1-5
- The readiness of God to effect justice is in contrast to the reluctance of the judge in
this parable, however it is clear we must be persistent in our asking.
2. Stay In Faith.
Mark 11:22-24
- The real lesson here is in verse 24. When you believe you receive when you pray,
stay in that same faith. If the answer doesn’t show up immediately it doesn’t mean
you don’t have it.
3. Pray the Word of God.
Ephesians 6: 17-18 & Romans 10:10
- The Word is what we are to take up in prayer. God’s Word, in our hearts and in our
mouths changes things. Let’s not allow contrary things to come out of our mouths.
- Our faith must be in two places to produce results; in our heart and in our mouth.
Conclusion: Don’t ever allow yourself to be a pushover for the devil. He needs to experience firsthand that you are the one who never stops confessing the Word, seeking Gods presence and standing on what God has said. The Vision in your heart, placed there by Holy Spirit, is God’s plan for you. It can come to pass, no matter what obstacles seem to have arisen. Abraham and Sarah bore a child in their old age, so you still have time to fulfill your destiny! With God all things are possible. We are created to give the devil plenty of trouble! Be sure to give him your share! Persistence never quite, Consistency stays at it.
