Map & Compass: aka GPS (God Positioning System)
You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
Map & Compass
God is the God of champions. He excels at changing the ordinary, such as you and I, into the extraordinary! We are all on a journey in this life. It is a journey into God’s plan and purpose for each of us. Fellowship with God everyday helps keep us on the right track. When we stay close to Him, nothing the devil throws at us can succeed. (no weapon formed against you shall prosper). Jesus will give you sin overcoming, devil defeating strength and lead you to a future filled with blessing!
While we walk this walk we need God’s wisdom. We need ability from Him which will allow us to see traps the enemy sets up before we step in them. How can we have this? What can we do that will gain us the ability to side step every obstacle in the enemy’s arsenal? Today we will consider two things. These two things will keep you on track with God through thick and thin, through good and bad and through every battle and triumph.
We have learned in past weeks we need patience added to our faith. We have seen how standing in agreement with Gods Word, and being consistent in our confession of His Word is paramount to our faith walk. But the two following principles are life governing and irrefutable. If you do these two well you will always succeed with God, for you will find yourself continually walking in His will.
Ask Yourself This Question: Is your decision governed by these two?
1. Did God tell you to do it?
- John 5:19 & 30
19 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner”.
30 “I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me”.
2. Are you walking in love?
- 1John 4:7-8
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Conclusion: These two questions can be your greatest compass toward God’s will for your life. If at any time you can’t answer both with a yes, don’t move until you can. A little delay is better than error that leads down a wrong path.
Let’s determine today two keep these two guideposts at the forefront of our decision making. With God lighting our path and us walking in His ways the devil doesn’t stand a chance!
