Five Traits Of A Great Leader

   You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much

as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned.

   We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.

Five Traits Of A Great Leader

Throughout life we will experience a series of roles or positions. We may begin as an employee and grow into a manager, One day a follower, another a leader. The captain of a sports team doesn’t begin tin that position. Once he too was a rookie and had to “earn his stripes”, which is a military term regarding position and promotion. Promotion comes through experience.

   Knowing in which position we find ourselves at each moment isn't always clear. As a parent we find ourselves as a leader, yet at the same time, in our employment we may be near the lowest rung of authority. A man may be single, and not have a household to lead, but could be the captain of a football team. Some positions will have their challenges, and it is through godly wisdom that we can find help to fulfill that roll with excellence.

   Today we will look at five traits of leadership that all of us can grow in.

1. Self Discipline

Daniel 6:10 “…he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and

    gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.

    - Here we see Daniel was disciplined in his prayer time. He didn’t let things stop him

    from finding time to pray, even at the threat of death.

2. Courage

Psalm 27:1-5 & 13-14

    27:14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart;

    Wait, I say, on the Lord!

    - David realized, at the hardest times in life, His strength was in God

3. Perseverance

Romans 5:3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that

    tribulation produces perseverance.

    - When we determine what we are called to do, we must persevere, not letting others

    or circumstances stop us.

4. Inspire Others

Psalm 35:27 Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; let

    Them say continually, “Let the Lord be magnified, Who has pleasure in the

    prosperity of His servant.”

    - David had a righteous cause and rallied others around him.

5. Self Motivation

2Timothy 1:6 & 2:1

Conclusion: All through Gods Word we find traits of leadership that we can glean from. The greatest of which is to keep our heavenly Father as the first priority in our lives. Through this all strength, wisdom and endurance proceed.

     We have a mighty work to do in this earth, in our lifetime. Let’s determine to go all out for God,
