FAITH - LESSON 1
Standing In The Face Of Adversity
You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible verses in this study. Highlight or mark them in your bible. It is Gods Word speaking directly to you.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
Spotlight scripture: Matthew 7:24-25
"Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will compare him to a wisw man who built his house on a rock; and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock."
Are you doing the sayings of Jesus?
God is NOT an autocratic, harsh God. His desire is for us to walk in His VERY BEST.
In the Lord's eyes, the Word is a powerful, loving, healthy, living lifestyle directing force for good, designed to direct and bless our lives. It is not a set of rules.
His Word Is Priceless
1. His Word is truth.
John 17:17 ...your Word is truth.
2. His Word brings life.
Matt 4:4 It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God. (Jesus is quoting here from Deuteronomy 8:3).
3. His Word brings healing.
Psalm 107:20 He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
4. His Word brings provision.
Duet 28:1-6 If you diligently observe My commands...these blessings shall overtake you...
5. His Word reveals His will.
John 10:10 and the Word became flesh...
John 14:9 He who has seen Me has seen the Father
6. His Word is everlasting.
Matt 5:18 "not one jot or one tittle shall pass away..."
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today and forever.
Ask yourself this: Why should I be diligent to walk according to God's Word?
The ANSWER: To get yourself, as quickly as possible, to the place where God can move in you and through you.
Opening the door to Holy Spirit to empower us is a must.
WE OPEN DOORS WHEN WE:
a) Praise and worship Him
b) Walk in love and forgiveness
c) Put Him first place in all we do
d) Walk with integrity and honestly
e) Live our lives of faith consistently, not just on Sunday
f) Remain teachable and soft hearted
Having done all to stand, stand therefore...
ROLL ALL your cares over onto Him for He cares for you!
see Psalm 37:2
~ When we roll all our cares over onto Him, we aren't to pick them up again.
We are to appropriate the promise, through genuine faith, which produces expectation. This causes our speach to come into harmony or in complete agreement with the blessing - Not focused on the blessing but focused on Jesus, and how BIG A GOD HE IS.
~ We are to "forget not all His benefits".
Zacheriah recorded "It's not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord"
~ Time must be taken daily to fill our heart with God's Word and to open our hearts to His presence.
WHAT IS IN YOUR HEART?
~ Out of the good treasure of a good heart comes good things - Not hate but love, not lack but abundance, not fear but faith.
Fear tolerated is faith contaminated
~ This is not to say fear won't come, but it is what we do with the fear that makes the difference! My suggestion: CAST IT OUT!!!
ONLY BELIEVE
Mark 5:22...one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name, and when he saw Him he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, "my little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed and she will live." 24 So Jesus went with him... 35 While He was still speaking, some came from the rulers house who said, "Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further? 36 And as soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, " Do not be afraid, only believe."
- NOTICE VS 36 - Only believe
When the Lord spoke with Sara in Genesis 18:14 He asked the question "Is anything to hard for the Lord?"
