CHRISTIAN LIVING - LESSON 3 Notes
INTIMACY WITH GOD
You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible verses in this study. Highlight or mark them in your bible. It is Gods Word speaking directly to you.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
God is the designer!
God Designed a plan for your life - It is PLAN A
Rule #1. God's Word is infallible, indisputable, unchanging and alive. It is absolute truth you can stake your life on!
John 1:1
John 1:14
Know this; If it is promised in the Word, you can receive it!
Psalm 84:11-12
For the Lord is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory. No good thing will He withhold from those who
walk uprightly.
Will means WILL, not maybe! (if you're unsure, refer to rule #1)
1. God's will is to do us good!
* Why does the devil try to steal from God's children?
Ans. Because they're the only ones with anything of value!
2. The Cross is where satan's authority ends.
Matthew 28:18 "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."
~ To us, in our day, the cross means that access to God's presence is now unhindered!
* We can see why this is such outstanding news in 1John 5:15
1John 5:15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
* The devil can't go everywhere that you go!
~he no longer has free access to the throne room of God; You do!
~he can't walk on water or operate by faith, You can!
3. Walking in our blood bought spiritual authority honors God!
* Make pleasing God your #1 priority.
~ To act on His Word is to clearly state you believe Him. You take Him at His Word, and act as though everything He said is
true. This is honor toward God and this pleases Him.
~ Cast out fear and walk expecting God's BEST!
FEAR TOLERATED IS FAITH CONTAMINATED!
Proverbs 2:1-5 My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift your voice for understanding,
if you seek her as silver and search for her as hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.
I pose this question: How can each of us open ourselves more fully to know God's will, plan and purpose for our lives & for His kingdom?
Brother Lawrence (1610-1691) was born Nicholas Herman around 1610 in Herimenil, Lorraine, a Duchy of France. Brother Lawrence died in 1691, having practiced God's presence for over forty years. His quiet death was much like his monastic life where each day and each hour was a new beginning and a fresh commitment to love God with all his heart.
"I make it my priority to persevere in His holy presence, wherein I maintain a simple attention and a fond regard for God, which I may call an actual presence of God. Or, to put it another way, it is an habitual, silent, and private conversation of the soul with God." Brother Lawrence from: Practicing the Presence of God
"Consider your life and you will see that it consists of countless trifling actions. Yet God is quite satisfied with them for doing them as they should be done is the part we have to play in our striving for perfection." Bro. Lawrence
"The finding of the divine action in all that occurs at each moment, in and around us, is true science, a continuous revelation of truth, and an unceasingly renewed intercourse with God." Bro. Lawrence
Frank Charles Laubach (1884-1970) was the leading pioneer of the contemporary adult literacy movement. The fact that literacy is so common and a natural part of our lives has a lot to do with the developments and work of Mr. Laubach. He too is a man that endeavored to continually live in the presence of God, every waking moment.
"As for me I resolved that I would succeed better this year with my experiment of filling every minute full of the thought of God than I succeeded last year" Frank Laubach
"And I added another resolve; to be as wide open toward people and their need, as i am toward God. Windows open outward as well as upward! Windows especially open downward where people need most!" Frank Laubach
"One question now to be put to the test is this: Can we have this constant contact with God all the time? All the time...in His presence?...I chose to make the rest of my life an experiment in answering this question." Frank Laubach
"It is clear that this is exactly what Jesus was doing, all day, every day." Frank Laubach
Psalm 91:1
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of The Almighty.
Dwelling means our home, not the hotel we visit just once annually.
A)Seeking God with our whole heart is a sure way to find Him.
*In Duet 4:15-31 Moses warning to those who would enter the promised land not to wander from faith in God, but even if they did, they could search for Him with all their hearts and be assured He would be found.
NOTICE Deut 4:29 But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find Him if you seek for Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Proverbs 8:17 I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me diligently will find Me.
Isaiah 11:10 “And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious.”
Matt 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
1Thess 5:17 Pray without ceasing
B) Our staying connected to God, keeping our ear toward Him, is our life line to the supernatural.
John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Vs.7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
HOW CAN WE DO THIS, SEEING AS HOW WE HAVE RESPONSABILITIES; JOBS, FAMILIES AND MORTGAGES?
1. Keep God your first priority, over all else, without question.
2. Continually ask Holy Spirit for help in recognizing His instruction.
FREQUENTLY I HAVE FOUND WE THINK WE ARE WAITING ON GOD BUT OFTEN HE IS WAITING ON US TO “STEP OUT OF THE BOAT” IN FAITH.
3. Make choices that lead you to opportunities to draw near to Him, or be used by Him. (Christ centered thinking, be faithful at church, get involved in helping God’s work and He will be involved helping with yours!)
4. Don’t beat yourself up when you think you failed or didn’t do enough.
* any extra time with God is worthwhile, but this should bring peace, not guilt or condemnation.
* Quality is more important than quantity.
* Remember, Jesus loves you, not because of what you do but because of who you are!
THE BENEFITS OF FELLOWSHIP WITH THE FATHER ARE AMAZING!!
* PERSONAL REVIVAL! Romans 12:11 Fervent in spirit, serving the
Lord.
Fervent: ardent, vehement, intense. To reach the boiling point.
* PRAYERS GET ANSWERED. (John 15:7)
* FAVOR OF GOD ON YOUR LIFE - (Psalm 6:12) …with favor you shall surround him as with a shield.
* AN IMPROVED ABILITY TO HEAR GODS PERSONAL INSTRUCTIONS.
* SUPERNATURAL EXPERIENCES - Mark 16:17-18 And these signs will follow those who believe… (again, WILL, not maybe)
* FINANCIAL BLESSINGS - All the “things” will be added
* PATIENCE TO STAND (quitting is a permanent solution to a temporary problem)
* WHEN YOU KNOW GOD, YOU ENJOY HIM.
* YOUR FAITH HAS CONFIDENCE - We stand until we win, EVERY TIME! *Speak to your mountain. If you won’t speak to it, it will
speak to you.
1John 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we
ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
~If you knew what was on the other side of your mountain, you
WOULD DEFINATELY be speaking to it.
WE ARE NOT MOVED BY CIRCUMSTANCES, BUT BY THE WORD OF GOD!
CAST OUT FEAR - AS FREQUENTLY AS NECCESARY.
Conclusion: Let’s press into God’s presence! - Let’s go after Him with all our heart, all our soul and all our strength.
The future in God’s perfect will is much more exciting than any other way we could choose to go.
PROPHECY
Fully trusting in Me is to accept that what I did on the cross is sufficient for you. All of your life is covered by My sacrifice. This is a sure thing for you, saith the Lord. Your troubles are NOT your own, but are a lie sent to rob you of what you have in Me. The truth is you are healed, the truth is you are delivered, the truth is you are washed clean by My blood and all sin, together with it’s fruit, are under your feet.
Trust in Me. I Am your deliverer. I Am your Answer. I Am your victory.
