HEALING - LESSON ONE
How To Receive Healing
You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible versus in each study and highlight them or mark your favorites in your Bible. It is God's Word to you.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
Spotlight Scriptures: Proverbs 4: 20-22
My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.
3 John 2
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers".
Practical wisdom to help you receive your healing:
~ It is difficult to have confidence for healing when God's Word isn't in your heart!
1. Give attention to God's word.
2. Listen and obey His instruction.
3. Don't ever lose sight of His Word and His promises. - Keep believing God more than negative report.
4. Keep them (His promises) in the midst of your heart. - Think on His promises more than on your problems.
A) God's will is for His people to be well and whole.
1. In one of our spotlight scriptures (3 John 2) we see our faith is allowed to reach out for healing. Some would have us to believe
healing from God is no longer available. But from this verse we clearly see we can pray in this way and expect God to answer.
- notice in this verse he said "above all else". First in importance!
- notice in this verse he said " as your soul prospers". Living in right relationship with God gives all the more confidence in our prayers of faith.
2.Acts 10:38 - Here we find God is "no respecter of persons". This means if He will heal anyone He will heal you also!
a) We know from scripture Jesus healed "for God was with Him"(Acts 10:38). If He healed then, He will heal now.
b) God wants His people free from disease just as He does from sin (Luke 5:17-26)
B) Healing is included in redemption. (Galatians 3:13)
~ Act as if the new testament is true, because it is!
a) faith never has anything to do with feelings and feelings have nothing to do with faith.
b) Faith always refers to the Word. It is what God said about the situation, not what circumstances say that we are to focus on as the
truth.
c) I agree with the statement " if your saved you should be healed, if you're healed you should be saved".
HOW HEALING COMES
Healing can be obtained in several ways:
This is not an exhaustive list. The Grace of God is such that He can always intervene. This is simply a list of examples found in scripture which, through faith,we can duplicate in our own lives, being confident of the results.
A) Believing the Word for yourself.
a) We are made able to receive by the Word. (Colossians 1:12)
b) Healing comes through the Word of God. Matt 13:15 & Acts 20:32 & Acts 28:28
B) Calling upon church elders. (James 5:14)
C) Agreement in prayer with other believers. (Matthew 18:19&20)
D) Prayer. (John 16:23 & Mark 11:24)
E) Laying on of hands. (Mark 16:15-20)
F) Faith of a friend. (Luke 5:17-25) - notice verse 20 "their faith".
PRACTICAL WAYS TO HELP STAY IN FAITH FOR YOUR HEALING
1. Continually speak healing scriptures.
Proverbs 12:18 (NKJV) There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise is health.
2. Honor God. - Doing what God said to do is obedience, believing God will do what He said He would is honoring Him.
Here are a few examples we can find in scripture:
a) Moses stretched out the rod and God parted the water.
b) Naaman dipped in the river and God healed him of leprosy.
c) We lay hands on the sick and God causes them to recover.
d) Elders anoint with oil and pray and God heals the sick
~We do the small thing and God does the large thing!
3. Sickness is under the curse, from which we have been redeemed!
The curse - Deuteronomy 28: 18,21,27,28 and so on...
Our redemption - Galatians 3:10-14
YOU ARE REDEEMED FROM THE CURSE OF THE LAW WHICH INCLUDES ALL SICKNESS AND ALL DISEASE.
SICKNESS AND DISEASE NEVER COME UPON US FROM GOD, AS WE LIVE UNDER GRACE, THROUGH JESUS CHRIST!
