THE WORD - LESSON TWO
Gods Word is the Authority
You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible verses in this study. Highlight or mark them in your bible. It is Gods Word speaking directly to you.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
Spotlight scripture: Matthew 7:24-25
24 Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall for it was founded on the rock.
1) The Word of God is the highest form of truth. No matter what the circumstances are we can have success when we adhere to Gods Word and do what he suggests. It takes an attitude of greatfullness toward a heavenly father who is trying to he,p us rather than that f a rebelious child wanting to do things their own way.
The reason I say it is the highest form of truth is because the word has the ability to change natural truths, such as sickness into healing and lack into abundance. Faith in Gods Word changes things but without the Word their can be no faith.
2) The Word is perfect - Deuteronomy 32:4 - Notice in this passage His work is perfect! To change from perfect is to make something less than perfect as you can't make perfect more perfect or the word perfect has lost it's meaning. So His truths can never change. His promises are the same, just as He is; the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8).
3) Jesus is the way and the truth (John 14:6)
As we learned in lesson one the Word of God is truth (John 17:17)
~ So than we know Jesus and the Word are one. The father and Jesus are one. The Word is truth. Jesus is truth. Now lets take a fresh look at a passage of scripture and change "truth" to "word" to help us get a fresh perspective. These passages have made it clear that these are one and the same, so let us interchange them here just for fun and see if it helps us esteem the Word in our live more. From John 8:32 our new paraphrase reads: and you shall know the word and the word shall make you free.
We must endeavor to put the Word of God first place in our lives. Is it the priority it should be in your life?
Do we shape our lives around our time in god's word or do we get easily sidetracked by other things.
4) The truth you know is what makes you free!
John 8:32
If we commit ourselves to spending time with the Lord and in His Word we too are made free. It is worth every effort. Don't rob yourself of God's best by being negligent in this area. There is far to much at risk.
5) All things are made subject to Jesus and Jesus, with His authority, sends us in His name!
1 Corinthians 15:27-28
Matthew 28:18
A) The Holy Bible is the highest form of truth, as was made clear earlier. Jesus is also named truth as we saw earlier in this study. Therefore ALL things are subject to the Word of God. If all things are under Jesus feet, that leaves nothing exempt from His authority. You can rest assured if there is a scripture answer to your problem, you can stand by faith and receive your answer. Stand on the Word.
B) The natural realm (in which we live) is subject to the Word of God. When the Word is applied in faith to circumstances, those circumstances must change to line up with the Word.
C) The word SUBJECT is also translated submitted (Romans 10:3) and obedient (Titus 2:5). It means to
subordinate, to obey, be under obedience, put under, subdue unto.
UNDERSTANDING & REVIEW FOR PRACTICAL APPLICATION
1) The Word came first.
John 1:1-3
2) Faith comes by the Word.
Romans 10:17
a) If you don't spend time in God's Word, you may not have the faith you need to win some of lifes battles.
b) You won't be able to please God (Hebrews 11:6)
c) Victory comes by faith, therefore victory in every situation can be accomplished through the Word of God.
(Mark 11:23, Galatians 2:16-See Amplified Bible)
3) Gods Word never changes.
Psalm 119:89 For ever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in heaven.
Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away but My Word shall never pass away.
1Peter 1:25 But the Word of the Lord endures forever....
4) God NEVER changes! see Malachi 3:6 & Hebrews 13:8
In conclusion we see that the Word is not to be taken lightly, as many in North america do. God want's us to experience His supernatural power and has made it available to us. He loves us and desires to see His children do great exploits and bear much fruit for His kingdom. You are a child of God and have every right to walk in the kingdom authority He has provided. God bless you as you go about drawing nearer to Him and experiencing for yourself His awesome power moving in your life and through you, into the lives of others.
5) In your life give the Word honor and high esteem.
Hebrews 4:12 For the Word of God is living and powerful, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
No matter what may be popular opinion or politically correct, we must base our thinking on God's Word. His opinion is the one that really matters.
