THE WORD - LESSON THREE
The Power Of The Spoken Word
You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible verses in this study. Highlight or mark them in your bible. It is Gods Word speaking directly to you.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
THE POWER OF THE SPOKEN WORD
The Word of God is the only permanent and unchanging source of knowledge from which a person may build a life. Choices made every day can influence a persons future, sometimes quite seriously, so it is imperative that wisdom is used daily. How can we be sure that our decisions are based in wisdom? And even more important, how can we be confident we won’t hate the future which today’s decisions create?
These are the questions which we will look to Gods Word to answer for us today. This life is precious as our time on earth will not be repeated. In the past I have said “life is a big test, buy it’s an open book test, so let’s pass it!” Let’s determine in ourselves that we will walk according to Gods Word consistently. As we will see, this will take a conscious effort on our part. To implement the Word of God into our daily lives is to engage our faith continuously. It can be done, but walking consistently in agreement with the Word is key, and life will throw opposition your way!
Steps to Walking In The Word
1. Understand past mistakes effects can be erased from your future.
Joel 2:25
2. Within consistency lies the power.
Joshua 1:8
3. The words of our mouth can dictate our outcome.
Proverbs 18:21 & 21:23
- We must endeavor to speak in agreement with what we see from Gods Word if we
desire the outcome described in it. For example, we can keep saying; “I’m sick, I’m
sick, I’m sick when the Word says ‘By Jesus stripes we were healed’.
4. Gods plan for us is worth all effort.
Jeremiah 29:11
5. Fully trusting God will allow you to trust His Word completely.
Matthew 24:35 & Hebrews 4:12
- If you fully trust God with your well being then you can trust His Word has
power to change your life’s circumstances.
6. The Word is our spiritual weapon.
Ephesians 6:17 & Hebrews 4:12
- In war you do no damage to the enemy if you never fire a shot.
Conclusion: The Word of God is to be used by us as an instrument by which we wage spiritual battles. It is not just a book to help guide us, but is a living thing which we can engage and interact with. The Word, when believed in our heart and spoken out of our mouth can change ANY circumstance. Why wouldn’t we want to put that power to use? It is how we are to live this life successfully and change a world from darkness to light.
