THE WORD - LESSON FOUR
Seed, Time and Harvest
You will need your Bible and a pen & notebook to complete these lessons. You should be able to copy and paste these outlines to your word processor and print them without difficulty if you so desire. We recommend you record in your note book deep thoughts or questions that may arise as you study, and certainly record all things God reveals to your heart. Look over these notes frequently and use them even as you pray. God will cause you to grow in wisdom and understanding. Keep your note book with you throughout the day as much as possible to record all God reveals to you and to review the things you have learned. Look up all bible verses in this study. Highlight or mark them in your bible. It is Gods Word speaking directly to you.
We also recommend you make a habit of memorizing a scripture each week. This not only helps get the Word deep in your heart, but is also an excellent mental exercise.
Seed, Time and Harvest
Building our life can be compared to building a structure. You have to start with the foundation, then ground level and after that, each subsequent level until construction is complete. The unfortunate thing many attempt concerning spiritual things is to build the third story of the building before pouring the concrete for the basement! It doesn’t work in the construction industry nor does it work in our spiritual lives.
Living by the Word of God is the is an ongoing, growing process. A harvest does not come without it first being planted, just as a building has it’s beginning with the work done below ground. To be successful in life takes a planting of God’s Word before we should expect the harvest. Plant first, then harvest. All nature works that way. That law was laid out in the book of genesis (8:22). The principle of planting and reaping governs the spiritual realm also. It is a spiritual law. Jesus said “whatsoever a mans sows, that shall he also reap”. To consistently live in the will of God in our life is NOT the easy way, but the way of victory. Flesh often wants to be lazy, sleep in, not read the Word, watch tv instead. Champions don’t live their lives in leisure. We have to decide for ourselves how serious we are about receiving from God. Are we willing to go through the process?
Today we will look at the process involved in receiving answered prayer, aka harvest, according to God’s Word.
Proverbs 4:20-23 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings, do not let them
depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who
find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring
all the issues of life.
1. The seed worth planting in our heart is God’s Word.
It all starts with a seed. Your tomorrow is based on what you put into your heart today.
The Word is very clear when it emphasizes to keep our heart “with all diligence”.
2. Faith is the water and sun the seed needs.
We don’t have to understand how God will answer our prayer. We simply have to
believe He will. This is how God’s kingdom operates.
Mark 4:26-29 “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should
sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how.
For the earth yields crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, then the full grain in the head. But
when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”
3. Be consistent in feeding our faith.
“Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart”. The
Word of God keeps you from plucking up your seed through doubt, discouragement
and unbelief. Keep it going into your heart daily and your faith will stay strong. No
Word, no faith.
4. Your words have to match your prayers.
Mark 11:23 “…he shall have whatsoever he says.”
If you want to see your desire come to pass, you need to make your own words match
your prayer. Never try to pray in faith and then get up and talk unbelief. Keep talking
faith all the time!
Conclusion: Winning a faith battle doesn’t have to be an uncertainty. It should be a sure thing. When we continue believing and confessing Gods promises over our situation, and we refuse to be moved off of His Word we can win every time. Sometimes answers come quickly, sometimes a bit slower, but we must remain in faith, with patience, until the answer comes. This is standing, “and having done all to stand, stand therefore“. God has given us everything we need to defeat the devil, in this life. We don’t have to wait for heaven to win, we can win hear and now. Lets determine to stand on the word and take back what satan has tried to steal.
